This 1957 Chevrolet Corvette is a non-running project that was acquired by the current owner in 1968 and is said to have been off the road since the 1970s. It has a 283ci V8 with dual-quad carburetors paired with a replacement four-speed manual transmission. The car needs to be refinished, and the trim, instrumentation, and carpeting are missing. It has a black hardtop and red vinyl seats. An uninstalled black soft top, radio, and a complete set of front grille teeth are included in the sale. This C1 project is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with spare parts, black plates, and a California pink slip in the owner’s name.
The car is said to have been previously finished in black, and close-up photos showing the condition of the body are shown in the gallery. The bumpers, trim, grille, and door handles are missing, and the trunk latch is broken.

The 15″ steel wheels wear covers with faux knock-off spinners and are mounted with an older set of B.F. Goodrich Silvertown whitewall tires. Close-up photos of tire tread depths and production date codes are provided in the gallery. The car came equipped from the factory with an independent front suspension and semi-elliptical rear leaf springs. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.

The twin bucket seats are trimmed in red vinyl. The carpeting, instrumentation, dash trim, shifter, and dash-mounted rearview mirror are missing. The removed AM radio and speaker are included in the sale.

The inoperative 283ci V8 features two four-barrel carburetors and was factory rated at 270 horsepower. The radio shield is missing.

The stamping on the engine pad is shown above. The EG suffix is consistent with a 283ci V8 rated at 270 horsepower and designated for a 1957 Corvette with two four-barrel carburetors and a manual transmission.

A four-speed manual transmission was installed in place of the factory three-speed, and it is linked to a Positraction limited-slip differential. The flywheel cover is missing. Additional underbody photos are shown in the gallery.

Gold on black California license plates are included in the sale.
A redacted California 1968-dated pink slip and a California 1974-dated registration document showing the VIN for this car and the current owner’s name are displayed at the end of the gallery. A car in Florida with a matching VIN was previously listed on BaT in December 2020 and again in September 2022. The owner of this car connected with the seller of the Florida car during the 2022 auction, and that auction was subsequently withdrawn. The seller of the Florida car received an assigned VIN for it from the state, and it was relisted on BaT in January 2023.
