This 1982 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler is said to have been registered with one owner before it was acquired by the seller’s family. The truck is finished in Chestnut Brown over black vinyl, and it has a 258ci inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Last registered in 2015, the vehicle has since been parked, and the seller tells us its engine will run, but it only starts intermittently, and additional work will be needed before the truck is roadworthy. This CJ-8 shows 159k miles and is offered at no reserve with a clean Illinois title in the seller’s name.
Exterior details include SR Sport graphics, wood side rails, a body-colored roll bar, and a swing-away rear tire carrier. Damage to the rear is listed in an April 1997 entry on the Carfax report. Areas of bubbling paint, rust damage, dry weatherstripping, and other flaws are pictured in close-up photos shown in the gallery below.
The 15″ American Racing wheels are mounted with 31×10.50″ Milestar Patagonia tires. Front disc brakes and manually locking front hubs are additional elements.
The high-back bucket seats are trimmed in black vinyl, and the cab has a center console as well as a Kenwood cassette stereo. The rearview mirror is missing, and patched rust damage in the floors is reported.
A soft-feel steering wheel fronts the dashboard, which has a six-digit odometer showing 159k miles.
The 258ci inline-six is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller replaced the carburetor and fuel pump, and they report the engine will run, but it intermittently will not start.
Underbody condition is shown further at the end of the gallery below.
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned damage entry.
