Paul Walker’s Ford GT Returns To Auction After Years In Hiding

  • Paul Walker’s 2005 Ford GT has surfaced for auction in California.
  • One of just 14 red examples built without the iconic racing stripes.
  • Celebrity ownership and rare specs make it a collector’s catch.

The second-generation Ford GT might hold the speed advantage, but it’s the 2005 model that has truly cemented its place as a bona fide American performance legend.

Launched two decades ago as a modern tribute to Ford’s Le Mans-winning GT40, the original GT still turns heads today, and one of the cleanest examples we’ve seen in a while has just come up for sale.

Now up for auction in California, this particular GT once belonged to Paul Walker and his friend Roger Rodas. The supercar was part of their collection prior to the tragic Carrera GT crash that claimed both their lives 12 years ago.

This GT is one of just 14 examples that were built in 2005, painted in Mark IV Red but without the customary racing stripes found on most other GTs. Although a ride like this doesn’t need to be modified and is already extremely impressive out of the box, Walker’s former car does have some tasteful upgrades.

For example, it now sits on 19- and 20-inch ADV.1 wheels and has also been equipped with new Penske dampers. Additionally, the 5.4-liter supercharged V8 now sports an Accufab throttle body, an ECU tune, and an aftermarket exhaust.

There’s no word on how much power the car makes, but it should be a healthy amount more than the standard 550 hp and 500 lb-ft.

Inside, the cabin is completely standard and is all the better for it. The iconic Sparco seats have been retained, as has the original McIntosh stereo, steering wheel, and gauge cluster. Included in the sale will be the original BBS forged wheels.

Not only does the celebrity ownership of this Ford GT make it desirable, but it has also been driven just 3,701 miles (5,956 km) since new.

While there are likely even lower-mileage examples in the US, it’s rare to see a 2005 GT that’s been driven so little to be listed for sale through a public auction.

For collectors chasing pedigree or enthusiasts who appreciate a well-kept driver’s car, this one ticks all the right boxes. You can find the full listing and place your bid over at Bring a Trailer here .
