Dacia is preparing to expand its lineup with a new model called the Striker, scheduled to debut on March 10. The teaser reveals very little, but it hints at a crossover wagon for the compact segment, positioned above the Jogger.

According to Dacia, the Striker name draws inspiration from the 1980s and references “the power and precision” of a strike in bowling. The brand also liked the “ER” ending, which matches the Jogger, Duster, and Bigster in Dacia’s growing crossover and SUV lineup. It also helps that the name is easy to pronounce and carries what the company describes as “strong phonetics.”

The Romanian brand says the name “conveys the robustness of a versatile model,” and calls it “the perfect travel companion.” That description lines up with the compact wagon prototype that has already been spotted during development testing.
The teaser gives us a look at the angular LED taillights, which feel more than a little reminiscent of the Skoda Vision O concept. Probably not a coincidence. The Skoda Octavia Combi is widely expected to be one of the Striker’s main rivals.

There is also clear Striker lettering across the tailgate, with Dacia sticking to its budget-minded approach by using decals rather than a traditional badge. The body features generous black trim with a modern finish that contrasts with the light blue paint. A quick glimpse of the front end also reveals a blocked grille with prominent Dacia lettering.
Inside, the cabin appears to use recycled materials that should be inexpensive, durable, and easy to clean. Given the typical wagon buyer, practicality will likely be front and center, with a large boot and plenty of Dacia’s YouClip accessories. It is also safe to assume the Striker will support the camping-friendly add-ons already offered for the Jogger, Duster, and Bigster.

The Striker will ride on the CMF-B architecture that underpins nearly the entire Dacia lineup, apart from the Spring. Expect the usual family of powertrains shared with the Duster and Bigster, including gasoline, LPG, mild-hybrid, and full-hybrid options. Most versions will stick with front-wheel drive, although Dacia could throw in an all-wheel drive variant for those who like their budget wagon with a bit of mud on the tires.

According to recent reports, production of the Striker will take place in Turkey, leaving Dacia’s Romanian factory to focus on the mechanically related SUVs.
